The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation is about changing people’s attitudes and perceptions about all animals. Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ is rooted in the belief that education can start a revolution; a revolution about Love and Respect for all living beings.

The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation was inspired by a single unexpected act of Love, and a whole lot of trust and magic.

Eduardo Serio, a Mexican born businessman who was residing in Los Angeles, went on a business trip to Monterrey, Mexico, in October of 2013. Unbeknownst to Eduardo, this trip would be a one-way ticket that would change the course of his life forever…

While in Monterrey, he received a call from his cousin, an Animal expert with over 25 years of experience, sharing his frustration that a pet store was selling a baby Black Jaguar with the purpose of drugging it and having it pose for photographs as a source of income.

Eduardo, who always believed in equality and proper treatment of all beings, jumped at this opportunity and rescued Cielo from a life of captivity leaving his whole life in L.A. behind. That single event of Love gave birth to what today is The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation.

Currently, with the help of devoted friends and millions of loyal followers around the world, the Foundation has rescued and cares for over 260 (And counting) Big Felines including Jaguars, Tigers, Leopards, Lynxes, Lions, Pumas and more from a life of abuse in circuses, zoos and breeders, both legal and illegal ones.

The Foundation has also rescued more than 40 Dogs mostly from the street. The foundation has a project currently going on together with the Mexican Government SEMARNAT & PROFEPA (see below) to reproduce, reintroduce and repopulate endangered species of birds, endemic to Mexico, into their natural habitat . We have not formally announced it yet but the program is incredible and already giving promising results. More on this later…

The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation has 4 main purposes:

1. To rescue as many Animals in need from sad circumstances like circuses, breeding facilities (Both legal and illegal) and from people that have them as pets, providing them with a home, the best food and medical care available and a life of dignity and Love for the rest of their lives.

2. To raise awareness worldwide through pictures and videos using our Social Media Platforms and by giving conferences in Universities and other podiums that will have us, making the millions of people that follow us fall in Love with our rescues so that as a consequence they learn to fall in Love with their Planet, just like Jacques Cousteau said:

3. To continue working hand by hand with the Mexican Government, to keep changing laws in order to protect all species of Animals in Mexico and inspire all countries around the world to join in.

4. Just like we currently do with our endangered Bird project (Reproduction and reintroduction into the wild), we are working with the Mexican Government to start the same program with Felines species native to Mexico, like Jaguars, Ocelots, Oncillas and Jaguarundis.

We also believe that in a couple of years, with the amount of awareness that we are raising together with all the people that currently are working extra hard to protect our Planet, we will be able to regain the lost Lion, Tiger and Leopard habitat in Africa and Asia, and perhaps we will be able to help increase the numbers of those species.

We are a Foundation that thinks outside the box, we will never breed our rescued Animals if we are not going to be able to re-introduce them into their natural habitat. So based on this idea, since they were born and currently live in captivity, we have found out that the more Animals living together in one group, the happier they are, regardless of the species. So we have Prides that go from three individuals up to sixteen, and certain groups have members of different species that Love and respect each other.

Remember… WE DO NOT BREED THEM…And even though different species living with each other would never occur in the wild, it is ok for us to do it in our sanctuary because, as we mentioned before, they were born and currently live in captivity, due to the human destruction all around the planet.

We hope to inspire people to get along amongst them, because if a Leopard and a Lion can Love each other then it is possible for us humans to do the same.

Together with the Mexican Government, SEMARNAT & PROFEPA, we CARE AND GUARD for some of the Animals confiscated by them in our Sanctuary. We also work hand in hand to continue rescuing more Animals in need.

Through contacts, the Foundation and the Mexican Government have successfully negotiated the surrender of around 35 Animals from circuses and breeders. We convince them by making them realize that a proper maintenance of an Animal is only costing them money since now circuses can not have Animals perform in their shows. Also, we are being contacted by people almost everyday that have procured Big Felines and realize that THEY ARE NOT PETS, so they hand them over to us for their care.

CIRCUS RESCUES AND THE LAW THAT BAN ANIMALS PERFORMING IN CIRCUSES Thanks to Antonio Franyutti and his organization Animal Heroes, thanks to all the political parties in Mexico, specially the Green Ecological Political Party, thanks to SEMARNAT & PROFEPA and thanks to the millions of people in Mexico and around the world, on July 8, 2015, circuses were forbidden to have animals perform in their shows, and since The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation is the first and still the only Sanctuary specialized in Big Felines in Mexico, July, as you can expect, was a very busy month for us, since we rescued more than 80 Felines.

Before this law passed, Animals were an investment to circuses while after July 8, they became an expense. So thanks to our knowledge of the field, common sense, political support, and our impeccable convincing skills, we were able to complete the biggest Big Feline rescue in the history of Planet Earth: 73 Big Felines in one month. We currently host more than 210 Rescued Animals that prior to their arrival with us lived a caged life at the circus.

One of our vets is MVZ Rafael Tinajero Ayala; He is the former director of the National Zoo of Chapultepec; He was at the Chapultepec Zoo for seven years in what were considered the Golden years of the zoo.

MVZ Rafael Tinajero Ayala is also the director at Pro-Animal Committee in Mexico, which is a non-profit organization that protects Animals from mistreatment and also hands out free vaccines and sterilization for Dogs and Cats. Nowadays, MVZ ESP Rafael Tinajero Ayala besides working with The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation, is a part of ten social projects benefitting our unprotected communities.

Another of one our vets is Dr. Miguel Angel Gomez Garza; which is a leading scientist specializing in Felines, Psittacidae, Accipitridae and a published author by SEMARNAT & PROFEPA.

MVZ ESP Miguel Angel Gomez Garza published the book; “Loros de Mexico” which is a 30 year research and observation of parrots all around the Mexican territory, in which he studied every single specie of parrot that resides in Mexico. With his help, The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation and the Mexican Government, are starting a project to reproduce and save some of the most endangered species of Birds on the Planet.

Thanks to both of our vets our rescues receive the best medical attention and care.

Eduardo Serio, the Founder of The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation says that the three most important factors for the Foundation’s success are:

His Love for his kids, His iPhone and Instagram.

The Black Jaguar-White Tiger™ Foundation Instagram account (@blackjaguarwhitetiger) was open to the public in August of 2014, and in less than 24 hours, the Foundation received almost 3000 new followers, by the end of the first month, the number of friends around the world surpassed 100,000. 24 months later, the Foundation has 6,000,000+ followers and in the month of December of 2015 and February 2016, it was the second most watched account on the Planet on Instagram behind only the National Basketball Association and above Justin Bieber who happens to have 50 million more followers than the Foundation, it has been in the top 5 since July 2015.

In the last 3 months we have focused more attention to our Facebook account. Recently our followers have surpassed 2,500,000. On Facebook we post videos that are longer than 15 seconds (maximum time allowed on Instagram). We also use a tool called Facebook Mentions which is a live streaming broadcast which shows Eduardo’s Live interaction with the Animals and gives an overall view of the day to day at the Foundation.

The Foundation’s role in conservation is to help all the different branches of the Mexican government and the world to rescue our planet from the devastation it has suffered. Reverting the Habitat loss and by consequence the loss of different Animal species we humans have unremorsefully obliterated.
